DORIS DAY, 97 YEARS OLD

At first, Doris Day had dreams of becoming a dancer, performing during her early teens alongside Jerry Doherty. That journey, however, abruptly ended due to an injury, but it didn’t put out Doris’ flame. While recovering, Doris discovered a new passion: singing. Well, thanks to retrospect, it sure looks like this newfound talent eventually became an investment she has never regretted making.

From 1947 to 1967, Doris had the chance to record over 650 songs. Along the way, she also received an opportunity to start a career in acting. After debuting with 1948’s Romance on the High Seas, Doris has worked on films in various genres. A few of these notable titles include the western musical Calamity Jane, the comedy feature Move Over Darling, and the Alfred Hitchcock suspense thriller The Man Who Knew Too Much. Although her last on-screen role was in 1968’s With Six You Get Eggroll, Doris still graced the airwaves with her final music album, My Heart, released in 2011.
