BRIAN WILSON, 78 YEARS OLD

Brian Wilson is a founding member of the Beach Boys and is also one of the most prolific singer-songwriters of his generation. After the group signed with Capitol Records in 1962, Wilson wrote or co-wrote a reported two dozen hits for their group. There’s a reason why this artist is often referred to as a genius because of his unique approach to composing music. Of course, it is also worth noting that he regularly receives praise for his mastery of different recording techniques.

His name alone is synonymous with innovation in the industry.
His influence doesn’t just impact musicians from his generation either. Even today, he is widely regarded as a “godfather” to indie musicians, who have taken inspiration from his work. Wilson is also influential to the spirit of punk rock, has inspired many with his recording explorations. His investments in the industry have all paid off since then, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
