Coco Chanel – 87, Fashion Mogul

There is no doubt that Coco Chanel forever changed the way the world views fashion. Raised in an orphanage, Chanel learned to sew at a young age. She later found employment as a seamstress and began designing her own clothing line, putting up her investments when she was in her twenties. Chanel would then become one of the world’s most famous perfume creators and fashion designers.

Even though she had built herself an empire in the world of fashion, she never shared it with a child or a husband. She was involved with influential personalities throughout her life, but she opted to live a life without matrimony. Chanel was linked with the illustrator Paul Iribe and the poet Pierre Reverdy.
