JOYCE RANDOLPH, 97 YEARS OLD
Joyce Randolph is best known for her portrayal of Trixie Norton’s character on the television sitcom The Honeymooners. After she finished high school, she auditioned and got a part for the touring company Stage Door when they performed in Detroit. In 1943, Randolph moved to New York City and pursued her acting career. She landed various television roles and Broadway credits.
After getting noticed in a Clorets commercial, she was asked to appear in a skit on Cavalcade of Stars, Gleason’s variety show on the DuMont Television Network. Later on, she was cast as Trixie in The Honeymooners. She also portrayed skits on the Jackie Gleason Show. In New York City, she was dubbed as the “Garbo of Detroit” by several journalists. Randolph appeared on Broadway in Ladies Night in a Turkish Bath in 1950. She also performed in summer stock musicals, several guest appearances on television shows, and made commercials.
