BOB DYLAN, 80 YEARS OLD
Most of us known Bob Dylan best as a singer-songwriter and revered as one of the best in this field, but the degree of his contributions to art and literature as a whole is just as impressive. His career has spanned close to six decades, and in that time, he has become a significant figure in pop culture. This is large with thanks to his lyricism that often defied pop music stereotypes. His songs touched on social, political, and philosophical issues. He is also known to have borrowed from literary influences.
Aside from music, he has also published eight books of his paintings and drawings. As a visual artist, his work has been exhibited in some of the world’s most prominent galleries. That’s on top of all the accolades he has received throughout his career, including 10 Grammy Awards, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and a Nobel Prize for Literature, which he won in 2016.
