DION DIMUCCI, 82 YEARS OLD
Dion DiMucci proves that there are no rules when it comes to creating good music. The singer-songwriter is best known for incorporating different genres, such as rock, blues, and doo-wop, into his work. Before pursuing a solo career, he was initially the lead singer of the band Dion and the Belmonts. Dion later became one of the most prominent American rock and roll artists during the pre-British Invasion of music. To his credit, he has had 39 Top 40 songs, which were released through the 50s and 60s. This includes his songs Lovers Who Wander, Ruby Baby, and Runaround Sue.
While he experienced some career decline during the 60s, he did manage to recover after shifting to a more mature sound. He went from being seen as a teen idol to a reputable musician. Even today, his later work is cited as a powerful influence by his contemporaries.
