BERN NADETTE STANIS, 67 YEARS OLD

Best known for her role as the feisty Thelma Evans in the sitcom Good Times, 67-year old Bern Nadette Stanis is also the author of four books. She has also appeared on The Cosby Show and on What’s Happening Now. Being a talented actress, she also lent her voice on radio spots for a commercial gig for Nationwide Insurance. Despite her varied filmography, however, Stanis has been associated with Good Times that people, even to this day, still call her “Thelma.”

When asked what women could do to value themselves, Stanis gave one piece of advice: “Don’t let fear stop you.” This is helpful, especially for those who are just starting their careers and could not find their niche yet. It is also a good thing to remember when in a toxic relationship, for example. We know about Stanis because she has become a good actress and has also served as an inspiration to many Black women.
