Bill Withers

Bill Withers was one man who transcended from generation after generation. It’s safe to say that almost everyone knows a song or two by him. Some of Withers’ best songs known by the people were Use Me, Lean on Me, and Ain’t No Sunshine. Since he passed away in 2020, his words in Ain’t No Sunshine now hold an entirely deeper meaning.

There’s certainly no question that Withers was an incredibly influential and successful musician. However, his career only lasted for fifteen years, which is relatively short compared to other music icons we’ve known throughout history. Nonetheless, 15 years was enough for the great Bill Withers to win three Grammy Awards and six more nominations. His skills as a songwriter allowed him to be inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and eventually into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Moreover, two of his songs received credit for being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
