Alex Trebek

Alex Trebek was the American-Canadian TV show host well-known for leading the long-running game show Jeopardy! He hosted Jeopardy! upon its revival in 1984 until his last appearance on the show in 2020.

Born George Alexander Trebek on July 22, 1940, he finished his college degree in philosophy at the University of Ottawa while working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. After graduation, Trebek pursued a career in radio and television broadcasting, mostly hosting game shows. In 1973, he moved to the United States and accepted NBC’s offer to host the game show, The Wizard of Odds, followed by High Rollers and Double Dare. Trebek also appeared in many shows such as The X-Files, Good Morning America, and Jimmy Kimmel Live! Since then, he became a household name and one of the most respected TV personalities. During his career, Trebek received seven Outstanding Gameshow Host from Emmy Awards and was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. As such, he was awarded a star at Canada’s Walk of Fame as well as the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On November 8, 2020, Trebek passed at the age of 80. He was remembered for his dedication to his work and as a loving father and husband to his family.
