Dawn Wells

Dawn Wells was a former beauty queen who represented Nevada in the 19600 Miss America beauty pageant. After her stint as a beauty queen, she crossed into the acting industry and got her first role in The Roaring 20s. Wells became a household name when she portrayed Mary Ann on Gilligan’s Island from 1964 to 1967. She reprised her character as Mary Ann several times in the spin-offs of the show. Likewise, Wells has made several films such as Palms Spring Weekend, Return to Boggy Creek, Lover’s Knot, and Super Sucker. Outside of Hollywood, she supported various charitable organizations such as the Denver Foundation. She also founded the Idaho Film and Television Institute.

In December 2020, Wells passed away in her Los Angeles home at the age of 82. The actress’ last starring credit was when she lent her voice for a character in the 2019 series The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants.
