MF Doom

On the last day of October 2020, the American-British rapper, Daniel Dumile, also known as MF Doom dropped his mic for good. The rapper’s passing was only announced and confirmed by his wife two months later.

MF Doom started his career in music in the late 1980s as part of the band KMD with his brother Dj Subroc. Upon the passing of his brother in 1993, he took a break in making music from 1994 to 1997 and was said homeless after experiencing devastating career downfall. MF Doom regained his music career in 1997 by freestyling at open mic gigs, this time masking his identity. He then went by a new stage name, MF Doom, and wore a mask similar to Doctor Doom of Marvel Comics. Following his resurgence as MF Doom was the release of his album Operation: Doomsday, followed by Take me to Your Lead and Vaudeville Villain. Since then, MF Doom has never appeared on stage without his signature mask. He further explained that he wants the people to see his music first before him. Likewise, Dumile does not wear fancy clothes and pieces of jewelry like other rappers following his music values despite his high credit score.
