Rebecca Luker

Rebecca Luker was an actress known for her several roles on Broadway. She started her career as Christine in the Phantom of the Opera from 1988 to 1991, where she succeeded Sarah Brightman and her understudy. Luker later got the role of Lily in The Secret Garden from 1991 to 1993. She also got the part of Maria in the Broadway classic The Sound of Music and Mrs. Banks in Mary Poppins.

Luker also had several TV credits as she appeared in TV shows such as Law & Order, The Good Wife, and Boardwalk Empire. As the actress lived most of her life as a performer on stage, it came as a surprise when she suddenly diminished her exposure on the stage in late 2019. In early 2020, Luker revealed that she was suffering from a disease that prevented her from performing. In December 2020, news spread about her passing at the age of 59.
