John Le Carre

David John Cornwell was a British author whose pen name was John Le Carre. He was known for his spy-related literature. Among his most notable works are The Spy Who Came In from the Cold, The Looking Glass War, Call for the Dead, and A Murder of Quality. It came as no surprise when Le Carre chose to write stories about high-intelligence operatives theme as he once served as a member of the British Intelligence.

Before he was called to service, Le Carre was a scholar who then had training in the British Army as part of national service. He resumed his studies and finished his college degree at Oxford University. He then taught French and German language at Eton University for two years. By 1958, Le Carre was recalled back to service and became an MI5 Officer. He worked as a spy and was later transferred to MI6 to work on international covert operations by 1960 and subsequently wrote two of his first novel under the name of John Le Carre. In 1964, he ended his service as an agent. Le Carre then resumed his writing career and sought Irish citizenship. On December 12, 2020, his representatives announced his demise at the age of 89.
